‘Music is the space between the notes’
C. Debussy

F or Giovanni wine is art, poetry and emotion.
The elements that contribute to the production of wine (the vines, the grapes, the winemaking process etc.) can be likened to musical notes. The elements are the same for everyone, like notes inscribed on sheet music are the same for musicians. Music itself however, is in fact that which lies between the notes; it is the ‘space between’. That is to say, the interpretation of man, his intervention in the process, his idea, his vision, his perception, his style, is what creates wine, and it is this that creates music. It is this that reflects the soul of who has produced it.
With this ethos in mind Giovanni protects and nurtures old vineyards ‘ad alberello’ (containing head trained bush vines), low in their yield, by way of sustainable and mindful, traditional farming, using grassing techniques and green manure to limit to a minimum soil cultivation, and to completely exclude synthetic products.
This is a brand of viticulture that aims to safeguard microorganisms and useful insects in order to conserve the biodiversity of the soil and the integrity of the ecosystem. This is agriculture that brings history to life while, at the same time, looking ahead to the future.
